Project aim is to Improve the effectiveness of HIV continuum of care by overcoming legal barriers for the most vulnerable key populations on the EECA city level.

Short description: The project is building capacity of legal experts and paralegals to provide legal assistance to people who use drugs, men who have sex with men and sex workers to overcome legal barriers to get access to HIV care cascade. Together with project partners EHRA is addressing cases of human rights violations and legal barriers and analyzing systemic legal trends to advocate for change to ultimately decrease vulnerability of key populations to HIV and improve their access to HIV continuum of care.

Target group: Men who have sex with men, Female sex workers and Transgender persons.

Geographic area of project implementation:  Cities of Georgia: Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Telavi.

Project goal: To improve quality and scale of preventive interventions through comprehensive set of preventive interventions aimed at preventing STI/HIV spread among most-at-risk-populations (FSWs, MSM and Transgender persons)

Main objectives:

• Provision of HIV testing/VCT services and HIV self-testing to High Risk Behavior groups (MSM, FSWs, Transgender persons) through outreach and indoor activities;
• Provision of prevention packages (Risk reduction counseling, condoms, lubricants, booklets) to High Risk Behavior groups (MSM, FSWs, and Transgender persons)
• Assessing risks and STI symptoms and referring to STI clinics for father screening and treatments on STIs

Provision of TB screening and referring to TB enters.

Project goal: The project aims at increasing coverage of sexual partners of MSM, female and transgender sex workers through piloting HIV self-testing delivery strategies.

Short description:

The project is implemented by Tanadgoma, in collaboration with National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Georgian Association of Dermato-Venerologists and two community organizations. The research project aims to answer the question “What strategies of HIV self-testing delivery will increase HIV testing uptake among sexual partners of MSM, female and transgender sex workers”. The expected output is finding acceptable strategy of HIV self-tests provision to sexual partners of MSM, female and transgender sex workers, and contributing to the first “90” of the HIV treatment cascade.

Project long-term goals: 

1. A strengthened civil society that holds governments to account;
2. Increased fulfilment of the human rights of key populations;
3. Improved SRHR and fewer HIV transmissions.

Project activities:

• Psychosocial rehabilitation of people with drug and alcohol addiction in a resindential rehabilitation center;
• Consultation of a medical specialist (neurologist, psychiatrist, addictologist, specialist of infectious diseases);
• Gender-specific services (consultation of mammologist, gynaecologist, in case of necessity referral or social accompanying to a screening center);
• Provision of free condoms and informational educational materials;
• Voluntary counseling and testing on HIV;
• Testing on hepatitis B and C;
• Group educational meetings (HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, STIs, stress, drug related harm);
• Group and individual meetings with codependent persons (family members of people who use drugs);
• In case of necessity referrals to appropriate medical, legal or other services;
• Social accompanying (accompanying client to necessary services).
